Meet at the Barrington Playground next to the library at 2:30pm. Don’t forget to bring your solar eclipse glasses (or homemade viewing box). If your child goes to BES, please use the glasses provided to your family at school so we can provide as many pairs of glasses to the community as possible!

If you do not have glasses yet, there are a limited supply at the library – come in soon! We are currently limiting glasses to TWO per household (Barrington residents only). If there are extras at the event we will be able to distribute then.

Timing for the Solar Eclipse:

Partial Eclipse begins at 2:16pm, Maximum Eclipse will be at 3:30pm moving on to a partial eclipse ending at 4:39pm!

Eclipse Glasses – safety

  • It is not safe to look directly at the Sun without specialized eye protection for solar viewing.
  • Viewing any part of the bright Sun through a camera lens, binoculars, or a telescope without a special-purpose solar filter secured over the front of the optics will instantly cause severe eye injury.
  • Eclipse glasses are NOT regular sunglasses; regular sunglasses, no matter how dark, are not safe for viewing the Sun.
